In the Beginning
Today is as good a day as any to launch this blog as it is my sister’s 38th birthday.
This blog is designed to document the growth of a project I am shooting in Athens, Greece next summer at the International Special Olympic World Games. There, 7500 athletes and 30,000 family members will gather to compete for 10 days. My sister, Mary Beth, will be there as a member of the U.S. team competing in track and field. That’s my sister and dad in Ireland when Mary Beth participated in the 2003 world games.
My goal is to create a manned kiosk to document as many personal stories from athletes, their families, friends and coaches as I can. Those personal stories will then be put on a website creating an on-line international community for a group that has largely been searching for meaning on their own.
